Mankii was established in 2009 by Jasmin and Rosali as an online shop, with a brick-and-mortar store swiftly following suit in spring 2012 due to the owners’ belief that “clothes and accessories need to be touched and not just looked at.” As fashion stylists, the founders advise their customers, who comprise actors, film crews and tourists of all ages, on finding the right piece for a special occasion. Having dressed stars for the red carpet as well as provided costumes for films, the owners are passionate about vintage and fervently believe that what makes it so special is that each individual piece comes with its own history. Mankii sells clothes and accessories from the 1920s to the 1990s, as well as their own customized and up-cycled kimono designs that are made of 1950s fabrics and silk. Its stylists only buy and sell pieces that they would wear themselves. They clean and properly repair each item ensuring that everything is in pristine condition, where their mantra is: save the world – recycle clothes or buy vintage. Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
