From the jauntily angled wooden mannequins to the dapper colored trousers, there's a palpable sense of fun at Homecore. Hailing from a hip-hop background, founder Alexandre Guarneri carries that same sense of open-mindedness to his Mitte store, which sits amongst some of the city's most stylish boutiques in the area between Weinmeisterstrasse and Rosa-Luxembourg U Bahn stations. Guarneri's story began in 1990s Paris, when he first opened the boutique Double Source, followed by Homecore in 1994. The concept behind the collection of men and womenswear is that people should feel free from fashion trends and wear clothes that feel right - more important than trend adherence is quality, comfort and attention to detail. Colors are drawn from nature and the clothes, shoes and accessories look fresh and relaxed within the elemental wood, stone and white interior.Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
