do you read me

Whoever said that magazines are a dying breed will be convinced otherwise at do you read me?! in Berlin’s fashionable Mitte neighborhood. The store offers an incredible range of international magazines and other contemporary publications. You will find around 1500 magazines, journals, fanzines and books from over 20 countries – some of which are printed in small editions of 100 copies. Topics like art, fashion, photography, design, architecture, culture, literature, music and society are covered. Besides some widely distributed publications like Elle Décoration, Architectural Digest or the various editions of Vogue, you will also find special interest magazines like the beautifully designed The Ride, which covers cycling, or Candy, a glossy fashion magazine featuring transvestites. The languages covered are mainly English, German, Spanish and Japanese. But you will also find some publications in Rumanian, Czech or Italian. The founders Jessica Reitz, originally a bookseller, and Mark Kiessling, a designer, opened the store in 2008 out of pure self-interest. They found too often that the magazines they wanted were not available in Germany and they had to ask friends to bring or send them abroad. Lucky for us, those times are over now!Show lessRead more
