Corvera Vargas

Corvera Vargas is the vision of founder Maria Corvera Vargas, a designer who prioritizes “un-classical” women’s couture and upholstered vintage along with ethically sourced materials. The shop was established in 2008 under a different name, however its two locations in Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain have been operating as Covera Vargas since 2013. Born in South America, founder Covera Vargas values the importance of fair trade and high quality textiles, which is why she has spent years rigorously researching soulful and highly skilled seamstresses from countries that produce specialty raw materials. She now has an ongoing co-op with Bolivia’s Waving Woman organization that works specifically with alpaca wool. The shop has also established a meaningful collaboration with a family of Balinese tailors that are able to faithfully realize Corvera Vargas’ designs. Its team of six staff – all of whom are fashion designers and craftsmen – provide a bespoke service to customers, whom are mainly journalists and gallerists between the ages of twenty and fifty. Alongside specialist sartorial advice, the highly qualified team can also be seen creating their work in-house. This way, you can rest assured that every article of clothing is the product of authentic artisanship and is further confirmation of Corvera Vargas' staunch ethos.Show lessRead more
