Bass Cadet Records

Etienne Dauta opened Bass Cadet Records in 2013 with his friend Laura Le Marchand, who runs the vintage store Down By Retro that shares the same space. Originally from Paris, both have backgrounds in events and music production. Dauta sources the impressive collection of vinyls and tapes from jazz to electronica and any “danceable music” from underground distributors in his hometown. Together, Dauta and Le Marchand frequently organize events, inviting their famous DJ friends to take to the shop’s in-house turntables and play live guest sets. The store attracts discerning vinyl diggers and both casual and professional DJs who are looking for anything from underground, rare and collectible records to better-known names from everywhere from Scandinavia to Japan, as well as Detroit, New York and Chicago. Aside from the impressive music selection available, the shop also sells Bass Cadet Records posters, t-shirts and tote bags and is the perfect place to chill with friends and share music recommendations.
