Absinth Depot Berlin

Absinth Depot started in the back of a mom-and-pop-store in the late 1990s and is now Berlin’s top address to buy your bottle or drink your glass or two of absinthe – a once frowned upon, if not illegal, spirit from Switzerland made of vermouth. Fortunately since 1998 absinthe can be purchased freely in Europe. Hermann Plöckl from Bavaria, founder of Absinth Depot, will delight you with his in depth knowledge of the infamous spirit. He is a living encyclopedia on the subject, and has had his fair share of experience drinking it too. Customers can choose from around 150 different kinds of absinthe, and even though many like their absinthe with a cube of sugar, Plöckl prefers to drink his high quality spirits by simply adding a dash of water and some ice. For this purpose he also sells beautiful glass and metal water fountains. Furthermore you will find a range of special beers from Bavaria and other parts of Germany, Schnaps, Gin, and absinthe chocolates and sweets. In the evenings the store turns into a bar open until the midnight hours. Then, the absinthe enthusiast crowd around the bar tables and talk shop.Show lessRead more
