A7 Berlin

Stepping into the minimalist, neon-lit shopfront of A7 Berlin triggers a bell that usually summons one of the two designers who work in the back office of the Almstadtstrasse store. Julia Laskowski and Regina Tiedeken studied together at Berlin’s University of the Arts, and now head up the labels Rob-ert and Tiedeken. The range in inventory runs the gamut from playful patterned fabrics to modern slick and urban interpretations of classic shapes. Cozy merino wool scarves top the white low-level platforms above which hang everything from delicate cotton shirts to carefully crafted bags. Artwork from visiting artists adds a pop of color to the walls. Each series from Rob-ert and Tiedeken is often limited to ten to thirty pieces, making each item unique and exclusive. Simple lines and artful cuts give the jackets, coats, trousers and dresses a sense of ease. The boutique’s rails are kept clutter-free, so that proper space is given to each garment. With such accessibility and great design, it’s no wonder that customers find so many of their favorite wardrobe staples there.Show lessRead more

As chain stores fill the streetscape the world over, this project is a celebration of the independent retailer. All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
