25 Books

If ever there were a church for fascinating photography tomes, 25 Books would definitely be a contender for the title. Its founder Hannes Wanderer, who hails from a family of printers, opened the shop in 2009 in order to house the 850 titles that he had hand-picked from around the world. (His store, it should be noted, is the sole retailer in the entire city for some of the more special editions). Wanderer’s publishing house Peperoni Books, also based in the same location, has produced 80 of the titles. Aside from the countless volumes that are stacked up high on the shelves there are 25 new thematic photography works frequently on rotation. A showroom is situated at the entrance in order to host photography exhibitions that coincide with book launches and accommodate private events. Wanderer also provides comprehensive reviews and summaries of all of the books in both German and English, which are also available on the 25 Books blog. The shop is frequented by professional photographers and students and has a core Berlin following. Among those who have had their books published by Peperoni include Paddy Summerfield, Andreas Trogisch and Michael Wolf. As a teacher, Wanderer also often publishes his student’s books, which have gone on to earn prestigious awards. Show lessRead more
