By specializing in the sale of mid-century modern vintage furniture, Stilspiel co-owners Malte and Evelyn have carved out a niche in offering original, 1960's era pieces that wrote design history thanks to the revolutionary power of that time. Their space in artsy Kreuzberg boasts several rooms that are filled with carefully placed wooden desks, colorful geometric chairs, unique lamps and chandeliers, and cushioned sofas in pristine condition. There are even novelty pieces like the "lipstick mirror" by French designer Roger Lecal or an original chair prototype by Hungarian Peter Ghyczy, although the shop boats mostly well-known designer names from around the world, including Eames, Niels Moeller, Wilhelm & Walter Knoll, Dyrlund, and Desede. Because of their vast knowledge of both their own inventory and the intricacies of this era in furniture design, Malte and Evelyn may be called on to consult on full-scale interior design projects or to perform restorations in their on-site facility located below the shop. Berliners and international travelers in the know should - and do - flock here for fabulous and rare finds for their homes.
