If you have your heart set on acquiring some vintage furniture pieces from beyond the iron curtain, a trip to Espai Neukölln should be first on your agenda. Alessia and Federico, a pair of Barcelona-based Italians, named their boutique after a district in Berlin, a city close to their hearts. In early 2013, the duo took the plunge and opened up shop in Barcelona's Born neighborhood. Unique second-hand furniture pieces range from chairs from the fifties, well-worn couches to funky side tables, while shelves are populated with bits and bobs: typewriters, telephones, radio sets, rustic tableware, glass jars, and industrial lamps. Hanging on the white-tiled walls are a variety of vintage maps, posters, clocks and other decorative wall hangings, punctuated by local art pieces that the store occasionally stocks. Paired with affordable price tags, it's difficult not to get carried away in this Deutsch-inspired vintage heaven.Show lessRead more
