Ganiveteria Roca

For more than a century, Ganiveteria Roca has been furnishing Barcelona with knives, scissors, razors and every other imaginable cutting device. Master knifemaker Ramon Roca learned his trade in Solingen and Paris, the most famous knife-producing centres of their day, before bringing his expertise to Barcelona in 1911. Ganiveteria Roca moved to its current corner of Plaça del Pi in 1916 and Ramon died just two years later, leaving his 18-year-old brother to take the helm and pass the business down through the generations. A veritable shrine to all things sharp and pointed, Ganiveteria Roca’s classical Viennese-style façade serves as a landmark in the city’s Gothic Quarter. The glass-lined interior displays blades of all types, functions and prices, from basic kitchen knives to professional-standard products available nowhere else in Spain. Meanwhile, the knowledgable staff sharpen blades and offer advice on choosing - and using - the most suitable knife for the job.Show lessRead more
