The Barcelona skate scene was all abuzz in early 2010, eagerly anticipating the grand opening of FTC Barcelona, a.k.a For The City BCN. In April of that year, the fourth installment of the famed San Francisco skate shop opened its doors in the Raval district, marking FTC's first European venture (aside from the SF original there are outlets in Sacramento and Tokyo). FTC was brought to Barca thanks to the efforts of San Francisco native and former pro-skater Lee Smith and Barcelona's own Julio Arnau. What Lee and Julio lacked in funds they made up for in sheer determination; despite their shoestring budget, the shop's opening night was a massive hit. That success has perpetuated itself ever since. Refusing to rest on its laurels, this pedigreed skate shop is constantly holding events, sometimes in collaboration with its sister stores in Tokyo and San Fran. Not too long ago, FTC hosted an exhibition featuring the work of local artist Alex Trochut, which included warped skateboards à la Salvador Dalí. Of course, FTC is first and foremost a place where you can get some of the best skate gear around. Boards from brands like enjoi, Baker, DGK and Cliché. Clothing from Lurk Hard, Adidas, Converse and HUF.Show lessRead more
