Casa Gispert

One hundred fifty years ago, the world was a much slower place. Things may have changed nowadays, but Casa Gispert believes the old ways are still the best. Open since 1851, E&A Gispert has been roasting nuts and coffee ever since, using an original wood-burning oven, the oldest of its kind in Europe. Roasting this way is a delicate, time-consuming process which needs to be constantly monitored, but Casa Gispert knows the unique flavor it produces makes all the effort worthwhile. Tucked in a tiny street facing the soaring Gothic church of Santa María del Mar, stepping into Casa Gispert is like stepping back in time, and the delicious scents of toasted hazelnuts, coffee and dried fruit give the shop a year-round festive feel. Alongside its own products, Casa Gispert stocks artesanal foods from around the world, including fine olive oils, Martelli pasta and fleur de sel. Taking home a gourmet hamper may be hard to resist.Show lessRead more

All stores featured on Shopikon have been hand-picked by our editors who have visited thousands of stores, and only the best of the bunch make it into our guide. We evaluate stores based on product selection, atmosphere, dedication to their specialty, and overall shopping experience, making sure that they are all worth your trip!
