Product Description

This is an original illustrated map of Crouch End, a neighbourhood of north London, UK, inspired by the antique-style English County maps designed by the 19th century artist and engraver Thomas Moule.

All elements of the design, including the map, border and decoration have been entirely hand-drawn and digitally coloured by the artist.

The map features design elements that reference the area's rich history. The coats of arms at the right of the image with two trees and crossed swords are the arms of the old Borough of Hornsey, which was absorbed into the modern-day borough of Haringey in 1965. The second shield is an invented design, with a cross motif that references the origin of the name 'Crouch End' - Crux, Latin for 'cross'. The two illustrations at bottom left and top right depict Hornsey Town Hall and Crouch End clock tower.

The map also covers parts of central Hornsey and Stroud Green, with major landmarks, schools and pubs pinpointed. Locations featured on the map include: Crouch Hill and station, Elthorne Park, Ferne Park Road, Hornsey High Street, Hornsey Rise, Hornsey Town Hall, Mount View Road, Park Road Leisure Centre, the Parkland Walk, Priory Park, Stationers Park, Stroud Green, Tottenham Lane and Weston Park.
