Review of Combinat in Vienna
As its name suggests, Combinat is the combined store for Austrian and Hungarian fashion labels Pitour, Artista, km/a, Aquanauta and Lothar Daniel Bechtold. In 2005, Maria Oberfrank of Pitour opened the shop as a creative hub for art and design, located in quartier21, “a support structure that offers space and support to more than forty small and medium-sized autonomous cultural initiatives within Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier.” Once the Habsburg’s horse stables, Combinat’s historic space, with its high cathedral ceiling, old wooden parquet and large windows is full of colorful racks of clothing, printed bags and accessories from all four designers. Several art exhibitions are also on display throughout the year and can be found on the store’s website. Maria Oberfrank has been a very active part of the Viennese fashion scene. She co-founded the MQ Vienna Fashion Week – an opportunity for national and international designers to showcase their collections. Visit Combinat to discover locally produced, uniquecollections inside one of MuseumsQuartier’s beautiful courtyards.
