Review of IF Soho in New York
Few boutiques in Manhattan make more of a commitment to full frontal fashion than IF Soho. Opened by Jeanette Bird over 25 years ago, the IF Boutique epitomizes the clothing of choice for the sophisticated, art-minded type we’ve come to except of Soho. Challenging fashion is unabashedly displayed on IF’s rails, with stunning runway creations by the likes of Comme des Garçons, Dries van Noten, and Haider Ackermann. Smartly cut asymmetrical coats and bold textures are common in the store, with conceptual knitwear and accessories by Martin Margiela and Rick Owens. Every menswear and womenswear piece in IF has its own story, whether it’s a reference to deconstruction, minimalism, or sculpture. The color palette may be a bit heavy on the black, but the thoughtful design and workmanship put into each piece won’t have you missing color one bit. For consummate fans of fashion, IF Soho is a must-see.
