REVIEW
People like to call Jean Pigozzi the most well-connected man you’ve never heard of. He counts gallerists, art collectors, socialites, and a cadre of celebrities as his close friends, so it’s a wonder that he’s managed to keep such a level head while infusing his store, LimoLand, with such playful exuberance. This menswear boutique is unabashedly whimsical, making a case for bright color in almost any situation. Since opening in 2010, the store attracts men of all ages looking for a relief from somber seriousness in clothes. And they find it in waterproof collapsible rain jackets, cashmere-wool blend sweaters in contrasting colors, and a charming décor. Astroturf on the floor, walls that glow and change color, and contemporary African art on the walls are just the antidote you need to the never-ending row of minimalist boutiques in the meatpacking district. It’s the perfect reminder that we need so often: fashion can be fun.
