REVIEW
It is no longer uncommon to stumble upon retailers who specialize in high-end food and fashion for pets. There is hardly a better example of that trend than the West Village’s Zoomies, which opened in 2003 by Susan Bartholomew and Angélique M. Graux. Zoomies simultaneously shelters the world’s first dog-cookie bar and a growing line of house-designed canine fashions. Graux, a former proprietor of Angel Café in Paris, and Bartholomew, a former vice president of retail for Dior Couture, teamed up to design most of their products. All the clothing is made in the United States or Canada; a few suppliers aside, the store is primarily stocked with the Zoomies brand. For pet owners wary of excessive chemicals, all Zoomies products are organic (some can even be used by both the dogs and their owners). The canine cookie bar serves up more than 12 different flavors as well as an assortment of charming birthday cookies and specialty cakes.
