When asked how new costumers find LAFCO, a swanky Soho purveyor of luxurious and distinguished international body care and fragrance lines, the answer is that many are drawn in directly off the street by its irresistible aromas. Opened in 1993 by Jon Bresler, a former lawyer and self-confessed body care and fragrance junkie, LAFCO stocks a rousing selection of haute colognes, lotions, soaps and more. Products include its eponymous line of home fragrances, adorable travel candles that come with an enclosed box of matches, and hard-milled soaps from Claus Porto Collection, a 130-year-old family-owned soap factory in Portugal. The jewel in Bresler’s crown (and rightfully so) is his exclusive partnership with Santa Maria Novella, the oldest and most prestigious pharmacy in the world established by Dominican Fathers around 1221.
