Olivier Brémond and Thorunn Anspach opened their first retail space in Iceland in 2005, a quirky shop brimming over with comfort clothing, funky home décor, and whatever else struck their fancy. Finding quick success, the pair opened Kisan Concept Store in 2008, their first stateside enterprise, filling it with items that give a playful nod to their home city of Reykjavik. The space is stocked with hard-to-find items from around the world made by highly skilled artists who are unafraid to take risks. Look for fabulous statement pieces like metallic kimono-style coats, wearable basics, jewelry by Eddera, and gorgeous, wooly Icelandic sweaters. They also keep on hand a wonderful selection of children’s wear and toys. As much a gallery as it is a place to shop, Kisan groups together a fine selection of items that are lovingly and meticulously chosen, making the experience of shopping there much like walking into a gorgeous collage. – Sophia Holman
