Lower East Side
Few neighborhoods bolster New York’s image as the city that was built by immigrants like the LES. This enclave has seen the coming and going of generations of Irish, Germans, Poles, Italians, Dominicans, and Puerto Ricans, while being home to several bastions of Jewish culture. The latter include Katz’s Deli and the Angel Orensanz Center, the oldest synagogue in New York.
