REVIEW
Just a block away from Barcelona’s Museum of Contemporary Art, this cozy crossbreed between art gallery and boutique favors over 60 international artists, all locally based. Siesta was created in 2003 by Mercedes Rodrigo, an energetic and smiling Argentinean artist and a master of miniature, subliminal art. Set in a former haberdashery dating back to the early 1900s, Siesta’s walls are covered in shelves and glass cabinets. Each drawer and cupboard houses unique ceramics, contemporary jewellery and glass art, keeping the visitor there for a long while. The gallery maintains a constant exhibition schedule, covering a range of fields such as sculpture, photography, etching and engraving.
