REVIEW
The space that was once Iguapop Gallery is now home to Mutt, an art bookstore cum gallery that has quickly made a name for itself as a premier meeting point and platform for emerging artists. After spending several years working in galleries and specialty bookshops, Juanjo Fernandez took over this Ribera location in December of 2011. Mutt's selection of books and magazines runs the gamut of contemporary art categories. From industrial and graphic design to street art, from architecture to music, from desktop publishing to photography–the assortment is a celebration of artistic diversity. Complimenting the wide range of subject literature, Mutt frequently hosts book presentations and élan-filled lecture events like “Don't Art Fashion Music,” which was hosted by none other than the electroclash babes from Chicks on Speed. The exhibitions feature an ever-changing roster of artists, photographers and illustrators whose work is displayed against the elegant backdrop of this airy, pillared space. In case you aren't intrigued already, we would like to add that at the time of this writing Mutt is exhibiting paintings co-authored by a horse named Napoleón.
